Status Effects are special effects that create a lingering, temporary change to the affected target's stats. Status Buffs refer to positive changes while Status Debuffs refer to negative changes. Status Effects can almost always stack for increased power, meaning having multiple players attempt to stack a single effect may prove to make a major difference. Some Status Effects can only be found on specific Monsters. Most Status Effects are afflicted by various player or enemy monster abilities. All Status Effects are removed upon the completion of Quests and Battles.

Targets with Activation Priority will have the Unison effect of their Monster prioritized regardless of the order in which the Unison was triggered. Targets with the highest amount of Activation Priority will activate their Unison effects first. Afterwards, normal Unison effects will trigger in the regular order that they were activated. If two targets have the same amount of Activation Priority, the order is determined by the one with the higher Element Battle score.

Great Spirit Unison Attacks
Great Spirit Unison Attacks will be activated after all Unison effects of the winning side of the Element Battle have been used. Even if the losing side of the Element Battle only have Monsters with Activation Priority effects, Great Spirit Unison Attacks will still be activated with the Element Battle winning side first.

Alternating Unison Attacks
Alternating Unison Attacks (mainly seen during Battle Colosseum) allow Activation Priority effects to be activated first regardless of the outcome of the Element Battle. Great Spirit Unison Attacks for this case will activate for the winning side of the Element Battle, but only after all Unison effects from both sides have been activated.

Occurs when target receives a certain amount of damage, a hidden value based on the amount of Break Counters given from an attack. Many Lancer Abilities have bonus to Break infliction, which is further boosted by Gear Skills like Heart of the Spear, Heart of the Sting, Enforcer Testament (works for all attacks, not just the Stings), and etc.

Attacks on the inflicted target deal damage to the target with 80% DEF and MDEF penetration for monsters (as if the monster had 20% of its DEF and MDEF stats), and 20% penetration for players, stacking with other debuffs.[2] Consecutive attacks to the inflicted target causes a chain, refilling Unison gauges faster (up to 13% Unison fill at Max Chain). Only one target from each side can have this debuff at a time.

Field Effect is an effect in battle that is treated differently from Status Buffs or Status Debuffs which affects entire teams, whether it is all of the player's allies or all enemies. They are not affected by Remove Status Buffs and Remove Status Debuffs. They are also not counted in Status Buff and Debuff limits as they are separate effects from them.

Up to two Field Effects can be active at one time; only one that affects all allies' party and only one that affects all enemies' party. If a Field Effect is already active for the party when a new Field Effect is activated, the new Field Effect overwrites the previous Field Effect.

If an Element Effect is active and a Great Spirit Unison Attack of the target element is used, the normal effect of the Great Spirit Unison Attack will have additional special effects based on the Level of the Unison Attack.

Most Element Effects are usually applied on the user's side of the field, which means that these can only be removed by Field Effects that target the user's side of the field, or by waiting for the Effect's duration to expire.

When Unison Lock is active, Unison Attacks of Elements specified by these effects cannot be used.

Most Unison Locks are usually applied on the user's enemy side of the field, which means that these can only be removed by Field Effects that target the user's enemy side of the field, or by waiting for the Effect's duration to expire.

Boss Field are Field Effects that are only available to Bosses in Quests.

As they are exclusive to Bosses, all Boss Fields are applied on the enemy side of the field, which means that these can only be removed by Unison Locks which target the user's enemy side of the field, or by defeating all of the Boss's components in the wave. Revived components will reactivate the Boss Field.

Additionally, specific effects are applied to components that remain alive. This Field Effect remains active as long as at least one of the legs are alive on the field.
